the ocean's rolled away again
it's taken all his joie de vivre
the ocean spray falls flat again
it's less intense than spittle

there is no we there's only one
this place this fear this giving
.

weeping willows
cease for nothing

stake, decapitate and burn.

Yikes - that is one dramatic ending!

Athelas. I like the simplicity of this poem. I also enjoy the way you juxtapose interesting and contrasting images together in your poetry.

This poem of yours is so richly
layered, despite her petite form.
There is a sadness, a resignation
to the man in the poem, he seems
to be in limbo, hurting and haunted. I read this poem over
and over, aloud and to myself,
and she digs deeper each time.
